On July 2, Anhui INTCO Medical successfully connected its 11.2-megawatt (MW) self-use wind power project to the grid. As the largest latex-free disposable gloves manufacturer, INTCO Medical marked a significant milestone in its green transformation with this clean energy initiative, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable manufacturing and carbon neutrality goals.
A Wind-Powered Future for Medical Manufacturing
Situated within INTCO’s production campus in the Suixi County of Huaibei, Anhui Province, the project features two 5.6-MW wind turbines with 140-meter hub heights. Designed to generate approximately 20.718 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, the system will meet a substantial portion of the factory’s energy needs through on-site renewable conversion. With an expected annual equivalent full-load operation time of 1,849.8 hours, the project exemplifies INTCO’s strategy to integrate green energy directly into its manufacturing processes.Driving Sustainability in Healthcare Production
The wind project underscores INTCO’s leadership in transforming the medical consumables industry. By replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, the company anticipates annual savings of 6,246.5 tons of standard coal, alongside reductions of 17,154.5 tons of carbon dioxide, 2.1 tons of sulphur dioxide, and 3.1 tons of nitrogen oxides. These environmental benefits align with China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy and showcase how the largest latex-free disposable gloves manufacturer can operationalise sustainability across its global supply chain.“This achievement reflects our dedication to pioneering eco-friendly solutions in healthcare manufacturing,” said a company spokesperson. “By harnessing wind energy, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also set a replicable model for the industry.”
Paving the Way for Green Medical Innovation
The Anhui wind project is a cornerstone of INTCO’s broader sustainability roadmap, which includes optimising energy efficiency across its facilities and expanding its portfolio of eco-friendly medical products. As the company continues to lead in latex-free disposable gloves, rehabilitation equipment, and physical therapy supplies, it emphasises that green energy integration is integral to its vision of a healthier, more sustainable future.Looking ahead, INTCO Medical will accelerate its transition to renewable energy sources while refining its carbon management practices. The company aims to further reduce its environmental impact, demonstrating that medical manufacturing can coexist with ecological responsibility.
